Human eye iris splatter edit. Showing a blue eye iris that has been dropped and sections have broken off. Much like a smashed plate. Iris Photography. Eye Photography. The Touring Eye. UK

Letchworth, Hertfordshire Iris Photography Pop‑Up — Saturday 11th October  2025

Due to popular demand and my 1st planned pop-up for Sunday 12th October being almost fully sold out, a 2nd date has been added for the area!

Presented by The Touring Eye bringing iris photography to Letchworth and Hertfordshire for my 2nd iris photography pop-up event. (strictly speaking, it will be my first as the original planned event is taking place on the following day)

Whether you’re captivated by colour, fascinated by the intricate textures of the human eye, or simply want a stunning piece of personal artwork – this is your opportunity to see yourself like never before.

Each session captures the unique beauty of your iris using specialist macro photography and professional lighting techniques. After the shoot, your image is hand-edited with precision to bring out the incredible detail and colour that makes your iris one-of-a-kind.

Why Choose The Touring Eye?

I don’t outsource. I don’t use preset filters. And I don’t hand over your image straight from the camera. I’ve spent years perfecting this craft – and I treat each iris as an artwork in its own right. Every final image is the result of meticulous manual editing, using professional-grade tools to highlight the organic patterns, vibrant colours and ethereal textures hiding in plain sight.

In short – you’re not just booking a photo. You’re commissioning a one-off artwork that no one else on Earth could possibly replicate.

As I use a fairly unique setup for my iris photography, I typically only photograph the right eye at pop-up events. This is simply to streamline the process for everyone. I am however investigating options to amend my setup but not lose my uniqueness and if I can find a workable solution I shall update this FAQ.

At home visits I can photograph either eye as the time constraints are not the same.

Many eye products, especially mascara, have a reflective nature to them. This can result in unwanted ‘blowouts’ in the image. An area so bright, it lacks any detail. Therefore the only way to remove this, is to alter that piece of the eye using samples from around the area. However, for ideal results, which will not require alteration of your eye, please avoid wearing any mascara and/or eye liner to your session.

Also consider any blusher you may typically apply. If it has any sheen type quality to it, please avoid applying it prior to your session as this too can cause unnecessary hotspots in the image.

Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to reduce this effect through the camera or lens. it is something that needs to be edited out.

As it is my intention to create an image that is as true to your eye as possible, I hate having to replace pieces of the image due to avoidable issues.

This is a more complicated one. Many people attend my pop-ups that wear lenses. In the vast majority of cases, the lenses do not cause an issue. However there have been the occasions where the lens has caused distortion on the iris. If you can remove your contact lenses for your session that will ensure there are no issues. If you choose to leave them in then you do so at your own risk.

No. Clarity of the iris will be severely compromised if taken through a glass lens. So you will need to remove these when its your turn. Its only for a couple minutes and you’re in safe hands 😊

Images are delivered within 5 working days of your photoshoot.

Yes, you can order larger digital images (A4, A3, A2 and A1) through my shop.

This is a per image upgrade option. Simply choose the size you’d like to upgrade to and enter the file name of the specific image you are upgrading and it will be delivered within 2 working days.

Prior to your session you will be required to submit a photography consent form. On this form you will indicate if you’re happy for me to share your images (without any identifying information) on social media, my website, portfolio or not at all. It is totally your call whether your images can be shared.

It is virtually impossible for anyone to identify you by an iris image. They would have to be very close to you and often stare into your eyes 👀

Yes, iris photography is perfectly safe as your eye is not subjected to intense light for long periods.

Flash photography is used so if you suffer any conditions that may be triggered by 4 – 5 quick succession flash lights then it may be best that this photography is avoided.

Of course I’m going to say, absolutely!

This truly is a one of a piece artwork that no other person on this planet can claim to have. I painstakingly hand edit every single iris to create a final artwork that is a true representation of the patterns of your eye.

I’ve been a photographer for over 40 years. I’ve done macro photography (which iris photography is) for over 20. This isn’t something I just decided to start offering.

This isn’t about a quick and easy income. At my current price point, I’m basically working for less than minimum wage 😊

This is a passion project, it involves two things that bring a lot of joy to my life, photography and artwork.

I don’t use AI, I don’t use Photoshop Actions. I don’t use over saturation of the image in attempt to hide lack of editing and blemishes.

Every iris image delivered is crafted with love. (cheesy right?)

Unfortunately, like all ticketed events, a refund cannot be provided after ticket purchase in cases where you are unable to attend or are late for your session and cannot be photographed.

You are more than welcome to offer your tickets to someone else, but it is your responsibility as the ticket purchaser to notify The Touring Eye of the swap along with the name and email address of the person now in possession of the ticket.

No. Only people aged 18 and over can purchase tickets to my pop-up events.

In addition, anyone under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent.

Please do bring photo ID with you as I may request to see it if I have any concerns about your age. If you’ve been challenged about your age in shops, then its likely I may also challenge you 😊
